"Please Look After Mom" hasil karya Kyung-Sook Shin, merupakan antara novel yang ku gemari. Genre family yang diutarakan membuatkan kita dekat pada babak dan kronologi sekaligus reflek pada diri sendiri.

Selepas membaca novel ini, the way we think about our mom could be changed. Their nature, pengorbanan yang tersembunyi, kata hati yang terpendam, dan rahsia mereka, semuanya yang sebelum ini tidak kita terfikirkan.

After I read this book, I will look into the small matter about mom which is before this I didn't really look at. Many times, I asked myself,  is it okay with mom? Are these really what she means? Or what is always mom's dream? She has it, isn't? The most important thing is that how well I know the woman that I called 'Mak'?

'Please look after mom' mengisahkan seorang wanita tua, So-nyo yang hilang ketika berada dalam kesesakan in a Seoul subway station. She's with her husband at that time. But her husband lost her. The way the novelist expand her story is unique which is every chapter she will introduce a new narrator. Even though sometimes I lost the character but it makes me to know more and read more to answer the puzzles,  'who's character belong is this'. Then, I come across what the novelist really want to tell us, which is every perspective about So-nyo as a mother to a bachelor daughter,  mother to a married daughter,  mother to an oldest son, as a wife, as a sister-in-law, and as a friend. Like I said before, after all we wonder, how well did we actually know the woman we called Mom?

If we go through the story, put ourself into this story, automatically we asked ourself, and how about dad? If we didn't know much about mom, what about dad? Bapa yang selalu tenang, jarang mennokok bilang orang bugis...(mennokok means bebel in bahasa) are we ever able to know him better? I can't. I didn't have the chances even once. When I remembered the past, the only things I can say to myself is 'all things were wrong'.

Berbalik mengenai penceritaan novel ini, sampai ke pengakhiran, rasa desperate itu terbawa-bawa. Mana tidaknya, So-nyo tidak ditemui. Walaupun bertahun-tahun keluarganya mencari. Penulis mengakhiri novel ini dengan watak anak perempuannya yang belum berkahwin berkunjung ke Rome dan mengunjungi Vatican city. I can't imagine more, but one thing that I could say that, she asked the holy Mother to look after her Mom. Hidup atau matinya, jauh atau dekatnya, dengan siapa pun dia since she and her family can't reach her mom for years. For sure they can't lose hope for their Mom. As a Muslim, i personally think, we do our effort, but all are belong to Allah. He knows everything. And we ask Him always. Saying, Oh Allah, please look after Mom.
